An organized Monday
Monday morning, group classes done, and I genuinely felt ready for the week.
Not because Monday was unusually quiet, but because I had already done a lot of the work that makes my weekdays easier.
There’s a big difference between starting Monday thinking about everything you still need to do and starting it knowing you’ve already taken care of quite a lot.
This was actually my list from the weekend — not Monday’s to-do list.
Shredded chicken, gelatine, chia pudding, quiche, fish and vegetables, protein bread and scones. All done.
Seeing all those little ticks is very satisfying, but the real reward came on Monday.
The fridge was stocked, different meals and ingredients were already prepared, and I didn’t have to start the working week by immediately thinking about cooking.
This is my kind of meal prep. I don’t want seven identical boxes lined up in the fridge. I want different things ready that I can combine depending on what I feel like eating.
And here is the weekend prep doing exactly what it was supposed to do.
Lunch packed, bag ready, off to work.
For me, this is the useful part of meal prep. It isn’t really about spending hours cooking for the sake of being “organised”. It’s about making days like this easier.
When I have a busy workday, I already know what I’m eating and I have food with me that actually fits what I need.
One less decision to make.
I also did a little planning and stocked up on egg whites. There was a good deal online so I ordered 18 liters.
I use them constantly — eggs, quiches, baking, higher-protein meals — so buying them in bulk can be considerably cheaper, it made sense.
I was very excited about this. Buying things in bulk is satisfying. We know we have a routine and we organize accordingly.
Week 40 HIIT ready on the board.
Longer 45-second efforts first, followed by shorter 20-second intervals, with a mix of strength, cardio and core.
Bear walks, goblet squats, boxing combinations, kettlebell rows, burpees, sprinting…
A perfectly reasonable Monday welcome. 😇
This was one of those Mondays where everything runs smoothly: Morning classes done. Food packed. Fridge stocked. Work planned. Week started.
The weekend preparation had done its job.
I wasn’t starting Monday trying to catch up with my life.
I was ready for it.
